Internet marketing for movie producers, screenwriters, directors, and actors is essential to building a successful career in the entertainment business. The SEO Bully has been sharing a lot of information with me on Internet marketing. The problem is I am not the most tech savvy person in the entertainment industry when it comes to understanding and using marketing strategies online. I am currently trying to change that.

In the spirit of collaboration I agreed to be a case study for The SEO Bully. The premise is that if a filmmaker without any experience in search engine optimization (SEO) or website design can learn how to market effectively online using simple, but effective ways to generate traffic to increase search engine rankings then anyone can. Yeah, that is how bad the learning curve is for me with SEO.

To really learn and benefit from this experience I was not allowed to choose any market related to entertainment or real estate. I would have to start from scratch picking a fresh market to target and make money online with. Making money was the only way to keep score as the project progressed. I have been completely focused on writing, producing, and directing for years, so right off the bat I had to step out of my comfort zone and face the SEO world head on.

I made a list of different topics that I felt had broad enough appeal to be profitable, but were not too saturated with competition. The list came down to hemorrhoids after doing extensive keyword research and seeing what online advertisers were paying per click through Google AdSense and what products could be sold as an Amazon affiliate. The SEO Bully showed me step by step how to launch the blog HemorrhoidsOnline.com to get started. Hemorrhoid money spends like any other money I would imagine. The SEO blog process is not easy for me. I make many mistakes learning how to correctly add Google AdSense code and optimize a page.

I have been frustrated and have wanted to quit the experiment. I am sticking with it because I know once I get through it I will take the skills learned and use them to build a strong online presence for my entertainment brand and creative endeavors. I also decided to take on internet marketing! I found a hosting company that gives templates, and pretty good training, and I've decided to stick with it until I start earning. Also learning about SEO and planning to use it for better things later on. Good luck! I'm sure you'll succeed.
