There will always be one angry goat that attacks filmmakers and writers when they try to work. It’s usually a person close to the filmmaker or writer that has a negative vibe or toxic personality. They have no idea why a person would want to spend time making films or writing. The common complaint usually is why a person would want to spend time alone in their own creative dojo working on screenplays, shot sheets or novels.
I never look at filmmaking or writing as a job. It’s something I love to do that I’m fortunate pays the bills where I don’t have to punch a clock like Office Space. Still negative vibes from attack goats can be hard to fight off when you’re trying to focus on what you’re creating.
When I’m working I go all in with no holding back. I shut my phone off and tune out the rest of the world as much as possible. I like room to work so I can pace and say lines out loud to hear how they sound as the ideas come out. I borrowed a strategy from my friend Tim by using two large whiteboards to write things down when brainstorming a script, production notes or novel outline.
I don’t have anything against goats. They are interesting animals. Angry goat is just a term I use to describe those people in your life that always have drama and complain about everything. We all have down days where our energy levels are low and we don’t feel positive, but angry goats live like this most of the time. Live your filmmaking and writing dreams without letting other people kill it or spit at you. This is indie filmmaker Sid Kali typing fade out.
